Sid Meier's Civilization II or Civ II was originally released in 1996. The game's objective was to build an empire to stand the test of time. The game features entirely new concepts, such as firepower and hitpoints (meaning phalanxes cannot so easily beat battleships), and changes some units' abilities and strengths. When the game finally reached version 2, it essentially collapsed down to a glorified board game. This was undoubtedly the result of unrealistic micromanagement and the fictional world of Sid Meier's Civilization II or Civ II itself.
These civilizations were based upon Greek, Roman and Asian military, medical, social, scientific and religious cultures. Each had a leader, chosen by the player, and varied suits of'musketeers' or'spearmen' to best fight enemy armies. Each civilization also had an Abolitionist, Religious Zealot, Science Luddite or Statistician, all of whom you'd attempt to avoid at all costs. The Warrior, Great Smith and Explorer civilizations were more competent, whereas the Priest and Merchant were more willing to sacrifice their cities in order to boost research.
Revolution : Civilization had been in decline for a while. Constantly distracted by religion and parliaments, the world had little else to do. Such lack of purpose left little time to actually explore what was happening on the outside.
